Arriving at the track on Friday morning, the team set about erecting the pits and then kart preparation ready for testing after lunch. 12 o’clock down came the rain, so the second kart was set-up for the conditions and Jon went out to run in the engines and re learn the track.

Saturday out came the sun, so Jon and Mike set about making adjustments to the kart to see what laps times they could achieve. After the third season it was decided to change to the second chassis a new R31-S1 which had been race at Suzuka by the Birel Motorsport Team at the World Cup. The chassis proved to be much faster by 0,3 th and after a new set of tyres were fitted, Jon was down in the low 39.2s matching Kohie’s lap times, so it was looking good for the race on Sunday.

Qualifying Sunday morning Jon finished in 8th place only 0,2 tenths off the pole driver which is the closest he has been to the pole driver, but with 3 tenth’s separating the field it just shows how competitive it is.

The heat went well and Jon have a good start and was in the mix off all the action mid field, but half way through the race his neck started to play up and he slowed down due to the pain and finished 10th.

The team were now concerned which the injury to Jon's neck for the final, so they took him off to the track hospital for treatment. Jon had the same problem a few months ago and it was to be a trapped nerve. So with some treatment it was onto the final.

After several restarts, Jon made up positions into 6th and as the laps went on 6th-7th-8th back up to 7th lap after lap, then coming around the hairpin on lap fifteen lap his neck gave out and Jon was unable to hold his head up, so the Birel Parilla Race Team called him in so that no farther damage was done.

Jon finally should that he was on the pace and was fast in all of the practice seasons and the races, it was just unlucky that the earlier problem which he had with the neck came back , so off to get more treatment in Bangkok.
